Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority serves as the regional public transit provider for Central Texas, coordinating bus routes, service planning, and rider resources across a growing metropolitan area. Through initiatives like Connections 2025, the agency works to identify how its network can evolve alongside the community it serves, focusing on improvements that make travel more frequent, reliable, and connected for people throughout the region.
Long-range planning efforts examine the current network and consider a range of opportunities for change. These include adjusting frequencies on busy corridors, expanding high-capacity services, and reconsidering the structure of routes that have grown over time. The goal of this study is to guide the evolution of transit in a way that reflects how people actually travel today and how they are likely to travel in the future.
Public outreach is a central piece of the planning process. Residents are invited to stay informed through a mailing list, attend webinars, and review materials available in English and Español. Events and community gatherings offer additional chances to learn about proposed changes, ask questions, and share perspectives on what improvements would be most valuable for riders, workers, and visitors across the service area.
Resources such as overview videos, FAQs, and an evolving blog help translate planning concepts into accessible information. Tradeoffs between different service options are explained clearly, and participants can view summaries of past engagement activities. Together, these resources support a transparent conversation about how transit investments can shape a more connected Central Texas in the years ahead.
Regular updates keep the community engaged as the study progresses. Subscribers receive notifications about upcoming events, new materials, and opportunities to provide feedback. By combining technical planning with broad public involvement, the agency aims to build a long-term vision for a transit network that better meets the needs of a diverse and changing region.
